Identification of Patients with CKD in Medical Databases
Six different algorithms are used to identify CKD in population-based medical databases. The hospital-diagnosed algorithm yielded markedly lower CKD prevalence but a much higher 1-year mortality rate. Despite these differences, laboratory-based algorithms produce cohorts with similar prognoses.
