Probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) offers microscopic level imaging of subepithelial biliary mucosa. CLE had high sensitivity in detecting cholangiocarcinoma. However, technical aspects of the probe may limit evaluation in the common bile duct and left hepatic duct.
