Nurse-Administered Propofol Continuous Infusion Sedation: A New Paradigm for Gastrointestinal Procedural Sedation
Nurse-Administered Propofol Continuous Infusion Sedation (NAPCIS) is a new non anesthesia propofol delivery method for gastrointestinal endoscopy. We evaluated the effectiveness, efficiency, and procedural success rates. On arrival at the recovery unit, 86.6% of N APCIS subjects were recorded as "Awake" compared to 99.2% in CAPS and MF controls.NAPCIS seems to be a safe, effective, and efficient way to means of providing moderate sedation for upper endoscopy and colonoscopy in low-risk patients.
